For over three decades, Performance Plus Rehabilitation Center has been one of the largest independently owned rehabilitation centers providing physical therapy and chiropractic care to patients throughout St. Joseph, Cameron, Buchanan County, and Northwest Missouri.
Our interdisciplinary team of Doctors of Physical Therapy, Physical Therapist Assistants, and Doctors of Chiropractic delivers evidence-based outpatient rehabilitation focused on pain relief, mobility restoration, spine health, and long-term physical function.
Our Roots
How We Got Started
Performance Plus Rehabilitation Center was established in 1994 by Dr. Allyn Smith in St. Joseph after beginning his professional career in Kansas. In 1998, the addition of physical therapy services expanded the clinic into a fully integrated rehabilitation facility focused on musculoskeletal and spine-related care.
In 2001, the clinic relocated to North Woodbine Road and adopted the name Performance Plus Rehabilitation Center to reflect its broader mission of restoring movement, reducing pain, and improving long-term physical function.

We provide direct access physical therapy and chiropractic care, meaning patients can begin treatment without a physician referral. Performance Plus Rehabilitation Center participates with Medicare and most major insurance providers, helping ensure patients have access to high-quality rehabilitation services when they need them most.
