About Performance Plus

Founded in 1994, Performance Plus Rehabilitation Center has served St. Joseph, Cameron, and the surrounding Northwest Missouri region for more than three decades. What began as a chiropractic practice has evolved into a comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation center providing physical therapy and chiropractic care through a coordinated interdisciplinary model.

The practice was established by Dr. Allyn Smith in St. Joseph after beginning his professional career in Kansas. In 1998, the addition of physical therapy services expanded the clinic into a fully integrated rehabilitation facility focused on musculoskeletal and spine-related care. In 2001, the clinic relocated to North Woodbine Road and adopted the name Performance Plus Rehabilitation Center to reflect its broader mission of restoring movement, reducing pain, and improving long-term physical function.

Today, our team of Doctors of Physical Therapy, Physical Therapist Assistants, and Doctors of Chiropractic work collaboratively to deliver evidence-based outpatient rehabilitation. Treatment plans are individualized and may include manual therapy, targeted rehabilitative exercise, balance rehabilitation, postural retraining, and progressive functional strengthening to support recovery, mobility restoration, and long-term spine health.

For more than 30 years, Performance Plus Rehabilitation Center has served patients throughout St. Joseph, Cameron, Buchanan County, and Northwest Missouri, working alongside local physicians and healthcare specialists to support coordinated outpatient rehabilitation and continuity of care.

We provide direct access physical therapy and chiropractic care, meaning patients can begin treatment without a physician referral. Performance Plus Rehabilitation Center participates with Medicare and most major insurance providers, helping ensure patients have access to high-quality rehabilitation services when they need them most.
